Are you ready to meet your destiny?

The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams are hard at work with the crew at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany to bring Disney Cruise Line’s heroes and villains-themed ship, the Disney Destiny, to life.

Here on the Disney Destiny ship’s log, get an exclusive look at the shipbuilding process, along with behind-the-scenes looks at some of the exciting Disney stories coming to life inside. Be sure to bookmark this page for regular updates all the way through the ship’s maiden voyage on November 20 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Port Canaveral was bustling with excitement as the magnificent Disney Destiny sailed into port for the very first time. More than just a new vessel, the ship represents the culmination of a vast team, a floating testament to the creative power and dedication of countless individuals.

After the impressive journey of over 5,000 nautical miles from the Eemshaven, Netherlands, seeing the ship approaching the Florida coast filled the air with profound pride. On the Disney Destiny’s open decks, crew members smiled with delight as the welcoming lights of the terminal appeared in the distance. The signal of their next adventure, welcoming guests!

Shoreside, a gathering of dedicated Disney cast members, teams who have supported the ship’s construction, sales and launch, were standing by for an exclusive viewing. This tradition is a special moment for them to witness their hard work literally sail into port, transitioning from an ambitious project into a spectacular, memory-making reality for future guests.

Cheers bounced back and forth from the decks to the shore with unified shouts of joy. The arrival of the Disney Destiny is not just a logistical success; it is a momentous and emotional milestone for the entire Disney Cruise Line team, signaling the start of a new, legendary chapter at sea.

After a two-week transatlantic journey, the Disney Destiny has arrived in Florida! The heroes and villains-themed ship was welcomed by none other than Hero Minnie, along with a crowd of more than 250 cast members, as it pulled into Port Canaveral this evening, an exciting milestone before heading to its official homeport, Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The arrival celebration featured a special preview of a Disney Destiny-exclusive ship horn, a heroic arrangement of “Go the Distance,” inspired by the ship’s new Broadway-style show “Disney Hercules.” The ship will spend the next few weeks gearing up to welcome families on board for its maiden voyage on November 20.

To further celebrate the arrival of the Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line is introducing the “Discover Your Destiny” initiative, a new program committed to creating positive impacts in schools across port communities in Florida and The Bahamas. Throughout the inaugural season, Disney Cruise Line creative professionals will bring the magic of theater into classrooms through interactive experiences that highlight a wide range of entertainment careers, from behind-the-scenes to center stage.

The “Discover Your Destiny” initiative perfectly commemorates the launch of a ship full of one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences, inspiring students to dream big and discover their own destiny through the arts.

Greetings from the Walt Disney Theatre! Today, we’re sharing an exclusive first look from onboard rehearsals of “Disney Hercules,” a new Broadway-style stage show developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny.

Earlier this month, the cast began rehearsals for “Disney Hercules” on the Walt Disney Theatre stage, incorporating finishing touches, like costumes, props, and set pieces, to help bring this unique adaptation of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film to life.

Now, with the maiden voyage just a few weeks away, it’s almost time to raise the curtain and reveal the high-fashion costumes, ancient Greece-inspired sets and state-of-the-art puppetry that will take “Disney Hercules” from zero to hero.

We hope you’ve enjoyed going the distance with us and following the show development of “Disney Hercules” here on the ship’s log, from the music recording in Nashville to the first run through on the Walt Disney Theatre stage. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for opening night updates!

The Disney Destiny is officially en route to Fort Lauderdale!

Over the next two weeks, the Disney Destiny will sail more than 5,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean to its future year-round homeport of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, making a brief stop along the way at its first port of call in Funchal, Portugal.

Throughout the crossing, cast and crew onboard will make final preparations to ensure the Disney Destiny is in shipshape for its arrival in Florida in early November and its upcoming maiden voyage on November 20.
